Training and experience
I have trained to Diploma and Masters level with the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust and Essex University, and have enjoyed diverse and challenging clinical work in a variety of settings. For almost 15 years I also worked in management and clinical leadership roles, most recently as Head of Service for Adult and Children’s Therapy at The Retreat Clinics York.
Currently, I am focussing on deepening my clinical skills and experience in my NHS post, in a Community Mental Health Team. I am also training as a practitioner in Mentalization Based Therapy.
I am registered with the Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists and the British Psychoanalytic Council, and enjoy a wide range of continuous professional development.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy has a strong evidence-base for helping with a wide range of issues such as anxiety and depression, bereavements and relationship problems, as well as more significant mental health difficulties.
A safe pair of hands

I understand that it can be a daunting process to approach therapy. Many people will have struggled for a long time before seeking help, and then found the choice and number of different therapy approaches confusing.
Research shows that often its the relationship between therapist and client that is the most important factor in successful outcomes. Psychodynamic Psychotherapy centres on the relationship between therapist and client.
I can offer an open space to think about yourself and your experience, exploring whatever comes to mind, with curiosity and compassion. Thinking together about what has happened to you and how you have managed, we can unlock change.

Working with difference
My training in Intercultural Psychotherapy has given me a sensitivity to difference and personal bias, and I am able to adapt therapy where needed for example when working with autistic or ADHD clients.
